Late Revolutionary War to Federal Period, European, likely French, Elliptical Brass Blunderbuss Barrel Box-lock Flintlock Pistol, c1780-1800, Very Fine. This European Elliptical Brass Barrel Box-lock Flintlock Pistol has a 4" elliptical brass Blunderbuss style barrel measures 8.25" overall length. This Pistol was originally made with a spring bayonet (now lacking). No maker marks or proofs present. Top mounted sliding safety. Interesting "Animal" face butt cap. The pistol is in its original Flintlock configuration and is worthy of further restoration. The bottom flat portion of the cock that holds the flint has broken off but can still function. The round face wood grip stock is solid with light scratches and minor dings from years of handling. The lock is in good mechanical working order.
