A great Native American Indian content letter, 2pp. 4to., written by a certainPaul Paquedasung, Mackinac, Michigan, Aug. 13, 1845 to his friend John M. Bachelder of Twinsburg, Ohio, in part: "I was very happy to see Mackinac…we got here…July 17th…saw some Indians next morning. They were from different places. One from Grand Travers. Indian He was vey happy to see each other. They shook hands together. We got the news now [that] the indians were all were at Grand Travers…I saw Pa qus a gu the head chief of the Choctaws. My grand father his wife is dead, died July 16/45 early in the morning…I was very sorry I could not be there in time. All the rest of the Indians are well…Indian says one Chipaway girl, I saw in Mackinaw, [is] with two twins. Good deal news amongst the Indians and about good many children among other. This is all I have to say about the Indians. The Indians and French are doing well…fishing though they are most done. There is not many fish now…I left for L. Travers with a Indian going home. We staid all day. We got to Cross' Village in evening…next morning was Sunday. Prayed all day Sunday…Paul Paquedasung."
