Autograph Letter Signed “W.C. Barrow” Clerk in the Surveyor Generals Office, 1pp. quarto, Lecompton, Kansas Territory, November 2, 1857, addressed to Hon. J.W. Whitfield and Hon. David Woodson, reading in part: ....We have this day directed one of our draftsman to perfect duplicates of the Plats and they will be forwarded to you when completed which will be in course of few days. ...” Fine condition. John Wilkins Whitfield (1818-1879) was a territorial delegate to the United States Congress representing the Kansas Territory from 1854 until 1856. He was an officer in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War, being commissioned as a brigadier general on May 9, 1863.
