GIBSON, Francis Marion Gibson (1847 - 1923) He was a First Lieutenant in Company H who performed scouting duty and participated in the hilltop fight. He was the brother-in-law of Donald McIntosh. Document Signed “F.M. Gibson” as 1st Lieut 7th Cavalry, Judge Advocate General Court Martial, 2pp, May 28, 1878. It was an interesting case, involving a trooper having allowed an Army horse to run off. What makes the episode interesting is that a party was sent out to search unsuccessfully for the horse for two days, an indication of how important their mounts were to cavalry men of the day. A legal-size handwritten document in excellent condition. Proveannace Heritage Nov 2014, lot##51046, $1000.
