Puck was the first successful humor magazine in the United States of colorful cartoons, caricatures and political satire of the issues of the day. It was founded in 1871 as a German-language publication by Joseph Keppler, an Austrian-born cartoonist. Puck's first English-language edition was published in 1877, covering issues like New York City's Tammany Hall, presidential politics, and social issues of the late 19th century to the early 20th century. Each 16pp. issue presents extraordinary color covers and centerspreads. Puck was the FIRST publication to successfully use Chromolithography . Puck, 52 issues bound in two separate books to include, March 23, 1892 (issue 785) through August 31, 1892 (issue 808), cover loose, issues fine; and September 7, 1892 (issue 809) through March 15, 1893 (issue 836) tight binding, issues fine. As this was an election year, these issues are loaded with Political Chromoliths of Presidents and Presidential Candidates.
