A good ca. 1790, 1p. oblong 8vo., Revolutionary War veteran's related letter by Virginia soldier John Scott asking for help in obtaining his promised Kentucky land, reading, in part: "Listed in the year 1778 for during the War and at the End of the War, a warrant for 200 acres Land was given me, in the District of Virginia now Kentucky, for service as a soldier, which was about the year 1782 or 1783 which warrant was in the care of one of my brothers and where now I know not. I wish to know if I can get the land." A good Revolutionary War related letter that is worthy of further research. Also, included is a printed, 1p. folio, "Sons of the Revolution. West Virginia Society," circular announcing the formation of the, Sons of the Revolution. The warrant request is overall near fine while the "Sons" piece's lower left is macerated. (2 pieces)
