A great circus/Sitting Bull related circus show promoter's letter, 2pp. 8vo., written by W. L. Berry, Chicago, Ill., July 31, 1884, to his friend Jerome, reading, in part: "…I have but little news. Nelly will be "W. J. Scanlon…The Peck a Boo man['s] leading lady. They commence rehearsals in Detroit…I have the promise of the "Mountain Leick" Co. which goes direct over your road to Omaha. I will be the business manager. I am going to take "Jardnero Girl I love"…in the meantime for a short season. I have a friend…trying to get the famous Indian Chief "Sitting Bull". He has letters from Senator Sabin and John A. Logan asking his release from the government…he's an U. S. prisoner. If my friend succeeds in engaging his Royal Scalps I am sure of plenty of money. I had a company down to Rockford, Ill. during the military encampment. I made a little over $100.00 out of the snap…W. L. Berry." VG
