Quite rare resolution issued by the Mayor of Manchester, New Hampshire, three days after the death of President Lincoln. Measures 7 7/8" x 9 7/8", 2pp., with original cover, fine. The black border resolution announces the death of President Lincoln, laments on what an honorable man he was, and that he was stricken down by the hand of an assassin. The second page, headed "Resolutions", states how the community will cherish the memory of Lincoln, how they deplore the death of the President, speaks of the assault on Secretary Seward, and puts faith in the new President, Andrew Johnson. It also states that a copy of this resolution will be sent to President Johnson and the heads of several departments in Washington, D.C. It is signed in type by D.J. Daniels, Mayor. A rare piece of assassination/mourning Lincolniana.
