Scarce election ticket sheet of three election tickets, 3-1/4' x 8-1/2", featuring the New Jersey US representative, Garnet B. Adrain. VG. Anti-Lecompton Democrat is a label assigned to eight elected representatives in the 36th Congress. The members were Democrats from Indiana, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania who opposed the "Lecompton" constitution--one of the constitutions proposed for governing Kansas upon its admission to the union. ADRAIN, Garnett Bowditch (1815-1878) Elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-fifth Congress and as an Anti-Lecompton Democrat to the Thirty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1857-March 3, 1861)
