c. 1876 Centennial Era, Handsome Large Gold Gilt Hand-Carved "Patriotic" Wooden American Eagle, measures about 22.5" from base to wing tip, 11" at widest point, 5.5" front to back, Choice Very Fine. This handsome Patriotic Hand-Carved Wooden American Eagle measures about 22.5" from base to wing tip, 11" at widest point, 5.5" front to back, having no maker mark or date. The Eagle's wings are nicely hand-carved separately with fine detail to feathers and expertly attached to the body, all being most likely made of Southern Pine. It retains a wonderful heavy gilded finish with some overall tonality of vintage age and having wear spots providing definition and eye appeal, felt pad on base. Each of the Eagle's eyes are carved to add definition and depth. Overall, an attractive fine quality example with good size and stands proudly upon its base on display.
