Good content A.D.S., 1p. 4to., Hollister, Ca., [n.d., ca. 1870], addressed: "To the Sheriff Merced. Co. Cal". Donnelly, Dunne & Co. write advising that four horses had been stolen from the Carrizalitos Ranch in Merced County. The horses are described by color and owner, and their brands are drawn as well. The form also mentions that they suspect one "Juan Galindo" to be the culprit, and they describe him as being about 28, "a Californian or Mexican, pockmarked...gave...a false name a few days previous...known to be a bad man..." Stain at lower-right corner, else very good. In May, 1886 one "Juan Galindo", identified as a notorious horse thief and smuggler, was killed by Texas marshals in a town near the Rio Grande.
