WARREN, Earl (1891-1974) District Attorney and Governor of California, but is best known as Chief Justice of the United States from 1953-1969. His term of office was marked by numerous rulings affecting among other things, the legal status of racial segregation, civil rights, separation of church and state, and police arrest procedure in the United States. Warren headed the Warren Commission that concluded that the assassination of President John F. Kennedy was the act of a single individual acting alone. Inscribed Signed Photograph, “To Cecil Staughton, with the best wishes of Earl Warren”, 10”x8”, black and white. Fine. Warren signs against his black suit reducing the contrast. Staughton was the White House photographer to JFK and LBJ.
