A 1-1/2page circular, “The People's Ellsworth Regiment”, June 25, 1861, VG. In part, “The Committee announce that they have secured the services of several of the gentlemen who were selected by the late Col. Ellsworth from the original “Chicago Zouaves” to drill his Fire Zouave Regiment, and who now hold commissions in said Regiment. These gentlemen will make the People’s Regiment a distinctive Zouave Regiment after the original plan of Col. Ellsworth. ... The men of this Regiment will each be furnished with the most approved arms, either Minnie or Enfield Rifles, with a Zouave uniform and fatigue suit, and all necessary and comfortable equipment’s...” Also included is the original cover that the circular was mailed in which is franked by New York Congressman Eraastus Corning.
