Very attractive CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA 500 COUPON BOND authorized under the Act of the CSA Congress on February 20, 1863. (Criswell type #CR121). Great vignette of Confederate soldier warming his hands over a fire. Smaller vignette of a steamboat. Printed on pink paper, with seven original coupons still attached. Very scarce TRANSMISSISSIPPI ISSUE stamped on face "This bond not to be valid until endorsed by the depository by whom it is to be issued." With stamped and signed endorsement on face "ISSUED AT HOUSTON TEXAS". After the division of the Confederacy following Union control of the Mississippi River, CSA Bonds issued in the Trans-Mississippi Department of Texas and Louisiana required the additional endorsement of the issuing Depository. Exceptionally fine example of this highly collectible Confederate Bond issued in Texas. VG
