Very handsome, hand tinted engraving, 4” x 6-1/2” titled, “Le Philosophe Americain” (translated The American Philosopher) shows Thomas Jefferson admiring a statue of Socratis. Likely printed c1785-89 when Jefferson succeeded Franklin as Minister to France.
