Benjamin Altman (1840 -1913) was a New York City department store owner and art collector who is best known today for his large art collection, which he donated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. DS. 1pp. 8" x 2 3/4". New York. Nov. 8th 1905. A "Chemical National Bank" check signed by noted merchant Benjamin Altman. He paid "Philip Lich $24.75". The piece is in fine condition and an unobtrusive cut cancellation affects nothing.
