War-date Confederate Document Signed by Chas. E. Marshall AA General, 1pp. folio, being General Orders No. 9 ordered by command of General H. Marshall, May 14, 1862, Head Quarters of Brigade, and advises that "The Brigade will move tomorrow morning at 5 o'clock 54th Virginia in front, 2d 29th Virginia, 3d Battery, 4th Virginia Battalion, 5th Kentucky 5th, 6 Battn. Mounted Rifles...Rear Guard. 7th Shanhan's Cavalry. The rear guard is instructed positively that no stragglers are to remain behind..." Fine condition. Humphrey Marshall (1812-1872) was a four-term antebellum United States Congressman and a brigadier general in the Confederate States Army and a Confederate Congressman during the American Civil War. The Battle of Princeton Court House was fought May 15-17, 1862 in Mercer County, Virginia (now West Virginia) in conjunction with Stonewall Jackson's Valley Campaign. It was a minor victory for the Confederate States Army.
