War-date Confederate Letter Signed by H.O. Clagett, AAG by Order of Confederate General Eppa Hunton, 1pp. quarto, Camp Mason, June 11, 1861, addressed to Lt. Col. Thomas Jordan, 1pp. quarto, and reads in part: “...During the night I recd dispatches...that on the Maryland side of the river just below Rockville there was a force of about 1500 men encamped for the present...That on this side of Rockville was a force of artillery with two pieces...I shall proceed at once to take up the R.R. track with a force of slaves if they can be procured. I send a letter for Gen Beauregard just arrived from Harper’s Ferry.” Fine condition.
