Music Sheet, 11" x 14", 6pp., titled "General Hancock's Campaign March" published by Oliver Ditson & Co., Boston, 1880. After serving one term as U.S. President, Rutherford B. Hayes announced that he would not seek re-election in 1880. Thus, the 1880 election ended up being fought between Republican James A. Garfield, the winner, and Democrat Winfield Scott Hancock. Garfield received 4,453,611 votes; Hancock received 4,445,256 thus losing the popular vote by 8,355 votes.
