c. 1770 Colonial to American Revolutionary War Era, Handcrafted Wooden String Measuring Spool with Turned Decorated Handle, Used, Fine. This rare Revolutionary War Era Wooden String Spool measures about 7” long and 1.5” in diameter, likely used for laying out Camp Areas and other measurements made of Handcrafted wood. Its Spool is original and moves freely. Some actual true wear and nicks to wood from use, any original paint lacking likely early but later green color string is on the spool. This item would have been used to lay out camp areas, foundations, trenches or any larger area layout. This is the first period example of this useful measuring tool we have encountered.
