War-date Union soldier Autograph Letter Signed by Henry B. Walker , 2nd Lieutenant, 121st New York Infantry, 4pp. octavo, April 9, 1863, Camp near White Oak Church, with cover, it reads in part: “...The review did not come off Tuesday as expected as it was so rainy and stormy Monday evening that it was postponed, but we had the pleasure of seeing Pres. Lincoln Wednesday...About half past ten Lincoln, his little son Thos. on a pony and Hooker with staff and large body guard made their appearance. They rode up in front of each division and back to the rear. I think the ‘cares of state’ which at present are not very light were upon the Pres. for I do not think he looks as well as he did last fall, tho I heard some say that they thought he looked better. He has shaved off his whiskers....” Fine condition.
