LONG, Huey Pierce Jr., (1893-1935) nicknamed "The Kingfish", was an American politician and lawyer who served as the 40th governor of Louisiana from 1928 to 1932 and as a member of the United States Senate from 1932 until his assassination in 1935. Printed Typed Letter Signed “Huey P. Long” describing Long’s program, Share Our Wealth Society”. In a national radio address on February 23, 1934, Huey Long unveiled his “Share Our Wealth” plan (also known as Huey Long's "Share the Wealth" plan), a program designed to provide a decent standard of living to all Americans by spreading the nation’s wealth among the people.
