Group of ten (10) items pertaining to the famous sword manufacture James Ames and his company, includes: Autograph Letter Signed “James T. Ames” 1pp. quarto, Chicopee, Mass, August 31, 1854 , in part “The bearer E.O. Carter Esq. is authorised to received for us the medals awarded at the Exhibition....plus; ALS, Jas T. Ames, 2pp. octavo, January 2, 1856, in part: “...Enclosed is a discriptive list of the medals awarded to the Ames Co at different times & which are in the safe and laying about the cases of the show room...they have been awarded under my care of the works...” ...plus; Autograph Letter Signed by Albert Betteley, 1pp. quarto, Boston, December 23, 1861, and reads in part “Your Mr. Ansell Robinson will remember the writer of this having called at the works several times with regard to rolling steel plate for sword scabbards and you have no doubt received a small lot by express. Will you at your earliest convenience roll it to No. 19 gauge...I wish to have 10 to 20 cases rolled immediately...” Most very good condition.
