A Traveling Magic Slide Show, “Jewish Ceremonial Life, as Depicted in Paintings by Moritz Oppenhein.” There are 21 black/white slides, each 4” x 3-1/2”and hand identified in ink on the paper frame. The key to the collection is the 20pp., typed presentation which provides lecture commentary for each of the slides. the presentation was developed by Professor A.Z. Idelsohn, the National Federation of Temple Brotherhoods. c1930. Moritz Daniel Oppenheim (January 7, 1800 in Hanau, Germany – February 26, 1882 in Frankfurt am Main) was a German painter who is often regarded as the first Jewish painter of the modern era. His work was informed by his cultural and religious roots at a time when many of his German Jewish contemporaries chose to convert.
