The October 25, 1828 has a front page article “Important Election at Hand” supporting JOHN Quincy Adams as President, runs 1/2 column. Followed by an Election Ticket for JOHN QUINCY ADAMS for President and RICHARD RUSH for Vice President folled by the 16 electors. ... plus, October 29, 1828, Large column head of art of a Heraldic Eagle, “GREAT NATIONAL ELECTION CLOSE AT HAND” followed by an Election Ticket for JOHN QUINCY ADAMS for President and RICHARD RUSH for Vice President folled by the 16 electors. Also on front page is a Thomas Jefferson letter (1825) supporting John Adams embargo, 1 column. ... plus November 12, 1828, from the interior nearly 3 columns of state-by-state election results clearly showing Adams leading Jackson. This was the Andrew Jackson’s first successful election as President, and the the second time a seated President was defeated. Jackson won 56% of the popular vote and 68% of the electoral vote.
