GEORGE III (1738-1820) was King of Great Britain and Ireland from October 25, 1760 until the union of the two countries on 1 January 1801, after which he was King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland until his death. His reign was marked most notably by the loss of British control over the American colonies. Document Signed, “George R”, 13-1/2” x 9-1/2”, December 19, 1794, a Military Appointment for Charles Frederick McLean to the rank of Lieutenant. The regal stamp is present, the document is soft with folds, the signature fully present yet slightly light. VG.
