MANSFIELD, Joseph King Fenno (1803-1862) was a career United States Army officer, civil engineer, and a Union general in the American Civil War, mortally wounded at the Battle of Antietam. Autograph Letter Signed “Jos. K. F. Mansfield” 1pp. quarto, Fort Pulaski, November 9, 1844, addressed to Henry Brainard, and reads in part: “... If it should so happent that you cannot obtain a vessel to load for this place at the rate I mentioned. You will do me a favor to ship the cut stone by some one of the River vessels bound south & deliverable at this place...” Very good condition.
