A complete and authentic issue of Frank Leslie's Illustrated, New York, April 22, 1865, disbound, 16pp., minor edge roughness, else VG. Important front cover engraving, "President Lincoln Riding Through Richmond, April 4, Amid the Enthusiastic Cheers of the Inhabitants" as dozens of former slaves greet Lincoln. The report "The Death Blow to the Rebellion" details the fall of Richmond. From the 2nd page, "The End!" is the 1/2 column report opening with "Gen Lee surrendered himself and the rebel army under his command to Lieut.- Gen. Grant April 9, 1865 ..." Additionally there are more graphic engravings including, the center spread "The Last Night in Front of Petersburg, by the Union Forces Under General Grant, March 31". Also a full page battle scene from Bentonville NC.
