A display of fine Lincoln relics, four strands of hair contained within a small magnifying case and matted beneath a reproduction image of the President, as well as a fragment of gauze bandage applied to Lincoln as he lay dying, also contained within a magnifying case and matted beneath an image of the deathbed scene, and a fragment of wood taken from Ford's Theater, where the President was shot, during an early renovation. An identifying note mounted beneath the relics reads, in part: "... Abraham Lincoln's hair, wood from Ford's Theater, and bandage fragments from Lincoln's death room at the Peterson House April 14th and 15th 1865 ... Above is a fragment of gauze bandage that was used in the care of Lincoln showing 'dark colored spotting reminiscent of blood'. The bandage fragment originated from the Herman Rudd Collection in Buffalo, NY and was previously in the collection of the Holland Purchase Historical Society where they have another piece presently matching this example. The hair strand originated from a lock sold at Christies in 2002 from the Forbes Collection and the wood taken from Ford's Theater during a former renovation." Also present are a COA from by Cary Delery and the original Christie's listing from this famous auction. Fine condition.
