Newspaper, “Hazard’s Register of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, April 28, 1832, 7” x 10”, 16pp., disbound. Under the heading “Statistics of Slavery” and running 3 pages, is a report detailing the slaves in Pennsylvania, the history of slaves in Pennsylvania, comparison to other Northern states. Fascinating history shows Pennsylvania had 3737 slaves in 1790; 1706 in 1800; 795 in 1810; 211 in 1820 then an increase to 386 in 1830.
