War-date letter, 4pp. 8vo., written by the uncle of Pvt. Henry Fulton, 20th Ohio Vols., Cincinnati, [Ohio], Mar. 7, 1863, to his cousin, in part: "…nothing of unusual interest has occurred here this winter; now and then a small scare as the Rebels would make a raid into Ky. in this direction. A little excitement was occasioned last week by the depreciation in value of gold. The all absorbing subject of interest here…is the war. Two years of the Lincoln administration have just closed and the war continues and will continue…during the present administration. Since the removal of McClellan disaster has attended our arms. There has never occurred, in the history of this nation, an act of such stupidity and wackiness as the treatment of McClellan by the present administration…I expect to see an aroused people rise in just wrath and hurl…the wicked, corrupt and imbecile wretches at Wash. City who are ruining the country to enrich themselves and aggrandize their party. I have not yet heard from Henry. I suppose he is in the mud at Vicksburg…Henry Fulton." The original stamped transmittal cover is included. VG
