Original real photo postcard of the Bliss-Leavitt Torpedo being loaded abroad the USS Mississippi in 1925. The Bliss-Leavitt torpedo was a torpedo designed by Frank McDowell Leavitt and manufactured by the E. W. Bliss Company of Brooklyn, New York. It was put into service by the United States Navy in 1904 and variants of the design would remain in its inventory until the end of World War II. Unused postcard. Very good condition. USS Mississippi, the second of three members of the New Mexico class, was the third ship of the United States Navy named in honor of the 20th state.
