Puck was the first successful humor magazine in the United States of colorful cartoons, caricatures and political satire of the issues of the day. It was published from 1871 until 1918. A collection of Puck cartoons dating from 1879 to 1903 is maintained by the Special Collections Research Center of The George Washington University. Newspapers, Three issues of Puck, New York, September 7, 1887, September 14, 1887, September 21, 1887, each 16pp., disbound, color covers and center pages, highly political, VG. From the September 7th issue, a color center spread with Uncle Sam and Puck deploring the doctors to help the inmates of the Political Madhouse. From the September 14th issue, a color verticle center spread honoring the Centenary of Our Constitution. And from the September 21st issue, a color center spread of Sherman fighting both War and now the Sectionalism.
