TEN BROECK, Abraham (1743-1810), a New York politician, businessman, and militia Brigadier General of Dutch descent. He was a member of the New York Provincial Congress from 1775 to 1777 and was chairman of its Committee of Safety in 1777. He was twice Mayor of Albany, New York and built one of the largest mansions in the area that still stands more than 200 years later. Manuscript Document Signed, “Abm Ten Broeck” as President of the New York Provincial Congress, March 11, 1777, 2 pp., 6-1/2” x 7-1/2”, to John Sloss Hobart (who dockets on the reverse), requesting payment for two line items including “The expenses of the Committee sent to secure the Stock and Grain in said county from the Enemy.” VG.
