Albumen Photograph, 9-1/2” x 7,” (by sight matted and framed) of 20 uniformed veterans. The front row, second position and the second row, fourth position are Black veterans. On the reverse is a contempory identification, “Southbridge mass, Malcolm Ammid on GAR Post, Civil War early 1900’s.” The actual post was “Grand Army of the Republic Department of Massachusetts Malcolm Ammidown Post, No. 168, Southbridge” which was named in honor of Malcolm Ammidown who enlisted in the 34th Mass. Regiment CO H., was taken prisoner at the Battle of Newmarket in May 1864 and died of yellow fever in Oct. 1864 in Charleston, South Carolina.
