Fancy border stock certificate, 9” x 6,” for 29 shares issued to Mrs. Catharine Boyce, March 28, 1862, VG. the certificate is signed by bothe President and Trearurer. The Bank of Charleston was incorporated in 1834 and ultimately was bought by Wachovia (now Bank of America). History advises that that the bank took slaves as collateral and upon default would auction those slaves.
