The 8-1/2” x 12” 2 pg. document, June 3, 1864 is headed “Invoice of Ordnance & Ordnance Stores turned over by Major Ormsby Blanding to Captain Theo. B. Hayne at Blakely Gun Battery June 3rd, 1864” and lists about 30 different pieces of artillery ordnance ranging from the first, a 12-¾ inch Blakely Gun, the Carriage, 11 hollow shot, 48 40-pound shells to priming wire, sights, lanterns and oil cans. The document is signed by Ormsby Blanding. ... plus, A CDV taken by Charles Quinby of Charleston in the spring of 1865 which shows the carriage of the blown up Blakely Gun. The CDV has excellent contrast with a slight trim on the left side not affecting the image. On the reverse in period ink is written, “South Battery, Charleston, S.C.” and has Quinby’s famous imprint.
