Confederate soldier’s letter written by “W(illia)m H. Brown who served under Forrest, Wheeler and Morgan in "F" Co. KY 1st Cavalry and was wounded and captured at Morrison's Depot. The 1pp., letter sent to his father, datelined Camp Morton Ind., July 30, 1862. In part, “... doing well though the health of the camp is not as good ... there has been some deaths one out of our regiment died with the flu. ...we have got plenty to eat and good water to drink ... What a happy life this is but I don’t expect we will stay long...” the original cover has a left hand corner “Prisoners letter Inspected A. Braus” Sept. 4, 1862 cancellation.
