War-date Union soldier's letter, 4pp. 8vo., written by Pvt. Daniel D. Barrows, Signal Corps, [formerly 9th Maine Vols.], Savannah, Ga., June 14, 1865, in part: "…George is rugged and appears to enjoy his blue rags. He is encamped just outside the city…Dexter Foss [12th Maine Vols.] died at the Pavillion Hospital and was buried at Laurel Hill Cemetery in the city of Savannah. I did not know that he was here until I saw his death in the paper. I then inquired at the hospital and became aware that it was Dexter Foss of Saco…Dan". VG
