Adopted by the War Department for the Government of United States Troops.", 25pp. 8vo, descriptive plates begin with illustrated "nomenclature of the rifle musket, model 1863"; bookplates illustrating the "appendages for the rifle muske"t; list of material used in producing the various parts of the weapon; "rules for dismounting the rifle musket" and finally ends with the comparison, nettled: "The model of 1863 corresponds with the model of 1861, except in the following particulars…".
