A Union manuscript document, written and signed by John A. Fox who on 1/6/1862 enlisted as 2nd Lt into I Co. A. 2nd Infantry and mustered out 7/14/1865. The document is datelined Tullahoma Tenn. March 22nd, 1864. Under the heading “Description of Colors, Color Staff belonging to the Second Regiment Massachusetts Infantry.” It continues naming and describing four flags and six flag staffs. As example, “Staff to flag presented by ladies of Harpers Ferry ... for the large flag from after battle Chancelorsville till after Gettysburg ...”
