Union sharpshooter letter written by “Thomas H. Buck” who enlisted 8/29/1862 into I Co. ME 20th Infantry. The 1-1/2 page letter comes with the original cover and is date lined Weldon Railroad Virg., Sept. 8th, 1864. In part, “My rifle has about paid for herself already, if Johnny hides are good for anything. I like her well. If I have good luck, I shall bring her home with me. I can count the buttons on their clothes a mile off. ...”
