Union soldier letter written and signed by Jonathan Lambert who on 9/1/1864 he mustered into "Batty K" Co. PA 5th Heavy Artillery and was Mustered Out on 6/30/1865 at Pittsburgh, PA. The 2pp letter, Fairfax Court House, April 27, 1865. In part, “The guerillas and stragglers are coming in by the dozens everyday to get paroled .. they have no mony nothing but their old gray rebel uniform which ain’t worth more than ten cents ... Our Srgeant .. was wounded sometime ago .. they amputated his leg above the knee ...”
