A complete 4pp news sheet issued by “Brother Jonathan” heading, a “Great Pictorial Battle Sheet.” offers “An Illustrated History of the Victories and Conquests of the American Army In Mexico.” By Wilson & Co., NY, 1847. The 22” x30” illustrated horse-blanket-sized news sheet depicting “Major General Zachary Taylor, USA” in full military dress, astride horse watching pitched battle in background with spyglass in his right hand. Issue dedicated to the “life and deeds of the distinguished general, a faithful portrait. Drawn and engraved specially for the Brother Jonathan sheet, artist unknown. Inside contents have not been assessed because issue is under wraps on board. Rag paper in remarkably good shape.
