A circa late 1930's hard cardboard foldout case which holds another four original folders that combined hold approximately 135 original heavy paper prints that apparently tell the story in Heroic terms of Germany from the dark ages to the 1930's and Nazi Germany. Some of the prints attack the Allies and Jewish bankers etc. The written descriptions on the prints and in the folders are all in German Wording but many events and people displayed are obvious. This set of German prints came from the estate of a US soldier that fought in Europe during World War II. Apparently these prints came back as a war souvenir. The prints were by Karl Anton Mayer and the top of the folder state in part "GEFCHICHTE IN BELDERN, KARL ANTON MAYER". Most prints show just one scene or famous German Leader in history but many others show multiple scenes of events in Germany's past. By far the largest of the four folders cover German military might in World War I and what Germany went through after WWI and the patriotic rise of German Power under Adolph Hitler and the Nazi Party. There are no World War II scenes which may indicate the prints were made just before the start of WWII in 1939. The prints in this first folder show in a small part "WWI GERMAN SUBMARINE, CAVALERY CHARGING, TRENCH WARFARE, GENERAL VON HINDENBERG, END OF WWI, GERMANY FORCED TO GIVE REPARATIONS, SANCTIONS, EVIL ALLIED SOLDIER STANDING ON DEAD GERMAN WOMEN, BREAD LINES, INFLATION, UNCLE SAM & ALLIES AS VILLAINS, JEWISH BANKER SQUEEZING A GERMAN CIVILIAN IN A VISE, GERMANS RAISING PROUD NAZI FLAG, YOUNG ADOLPH HITLER WITH BROWN SHIRT STORM TROOPERS, FIELD MARSHALL BULOW, HITLER YOUTH, GRAF ZEPPELIN, HERMAN GORING, DR, ROBERT LEY, RUDOLF HESS, DER FUHRER (ADOLPH HITLER) ETC.". The second print of Adolph Hitler is actually titled "Der Fuhrer". The other three folders show the no doubt slanted German history and events and German Leaders from the dark ages up to fighting Napoleon and other wars and events in the 1800's and include "VERY OLD SWORDS AND OTHER WEAPONS WITH THE SWASTIKA SYMBOL AS PART OF THE DESIGN, CASTLE'S MOATS, KNIGHTS IN ARMOR ON HORSE BACK, MEDIVIAL TIMES, THE HAPSBERG'S, CHRIST ON THE CROSS, ANCIENT ARMIES FIGHTING ON FOOT WITH VERY LONG SPEARS, KNIGHTS FIGHTING, EARLY CANNON IN BATTLE, 1813/1814 GENERAL BUCHER FIGHTING NAPOLEON, BATTLES IN 1848 & 1870, BISMARCK, ETC.". The prints are about 8 ½ x 11 inches in size. There are approximately 135 prints in the folder and the folder is full but am not certain if the folder was made with additional prints in the 1930's. A few of the prints have light wear to the corners but most are in near mint condition and none of the prints have aging, spots, tears or rips and the prints look very nice. The outside cardboard foldout case folds open from the top on all four sides with four individual folders inside with prints inside each folder. The outside foldout case has a three inch tear on one side and normal wear but actually protects the prints inside very nice.
