An emancipation manuscript, April 23, 1853, 4 pp., blue paper, old 1” tape repairs, VG. In part, “... that I Wayman Crow of the City of St. Louis ... do hereby emancipate setting fre and discharge my female slave Emily White , commonly called Emily, bought from General Ward ... also emancipate ... the male child of Emily ..” Interesting, on the front page, lower right side, is a First Day Cancellation CD Feb. 14, 1967, with a Fredrick Douglass postal stamp.Wayman Crow (1808–1885) was one of the founders of Washington University, a St. Louis businessmen, and a politician.
