A rare engraved multicolor lithograph of the Erie Canal, New York, lock system schematics draw by Confederate General William Edmond "Grumble" Jones (1824-1864) while a cadet at West Point and as a student in Professor Daniel H. Mahan's engineering class, accomplished ca. 1845, approximately 31 1/2" x 22 1/2", finely engraved title, reads: Plan Sections and Elevations of a CANAL LOCK Drawn under the direction of D. H. Mahan Prof. Eng's. By W. E. Jones Cadet U. S. M. A." Including the plans and sections is a drawing of the "elevation of tail of lock".
