Broadside entitled “POLL FOR A MEMBER OF CONGRESS, OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA,” 10-1/2”x17”, Wednesday, November 6, 1861, and lists names of candidates and names of voters. Alexander Boteler received the most votes. Fine condition. Alexander Boteler at the outbreak of the Civil War, enlisted in the Confederate Army and was commissioned a member of General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson's staff. Boteler was chosen by the Virginia Convention to be a representative to the Provisional Confederate Congress in 1861 and was later elected a Democrat to represent Virginia's 10th District in the Confederate States House of Representatives in 1861, serving from 1862 to 1864.
