Beauregard also led with great distinction at First Bull Run, Shiloh, and in the defense of Richmond. Autograph Letter Signed, 8” x 3-1/2”, 1pp., “G.T. Beauregard” Manassas, September 1, 1861, written to Captain C.P. Alexander (future General) “care of Major J. Gorgas (future General) - CSA, Richmond, VG. In full, “Remain longer in Richmond if required. Be careful not to make accusations against anyone. tell Col. Hatch I have another servant. G.T. Beauregard.”
