Group of three (3) Union Prisoner of War letters from Fort Delaware, includes: ALS by three members of the 5th Louisiana, addressed to General Corcoran, 1pp. quarto, Spetember 12, 1862, and reads in part: “...you ar the only friend we have in this country. We therefore call upon you to assist us in geting released from the Rebel Clutches...We were in the South at the beginning of the war and was forced to join the Rebel Army. We have often longed to be under teh protection of the glorious Stars and Stripes and this is the first opportunity we have ever had to make our escape from the Rebel Army. We are desirous of taking the Oath of Allegiance...” Very good condition....plus; ALS “A.C. Martin Co. B, 2nd Fla” 1pp. quarto, May 16, 1864, in part: “...I have come to the conclusion to make my condition know to you; as I am destitute of friends or relatives within the Federal lines...” Fine condition...plus; ALS Captain William M. Stevenson, 1pp. quarto, January 22, 1865,and reads in part: “...I am happy to announce the arrival of four Dixie Letters...They have forwarded me a box of Tobacco...I cannot procure a parole to repot at our lines forsuch officer....Judge Ould is a personal friend & would readily comply by returning any stated officer of equal rank with myself....Please send me “Harpers Weekly’ of the 22nd October 1864 it contains illustrations of the fight in which I was captured...” Fine condition.
